    Cheng CHANG

    Cheng Chang joined HP Labs China as an Associate Research Scientist in Aug 2007. He is part of HP Labs Advanced Database Program, working on large scale data management and data mining. He completed his Master degree from Tsinghua University in Jul 2007. His research interests include data mining, information retrieval and pattern recognition. His hobbies include swimming, reading, movie, etc.

    Shi-cong FENG

    Shi-cong joined HP Labs China as a Research Scientist in Jul 2006. Currently, he is taking part in the Web Content Discovery and Organization System led by Yu-hong Xiong. Shi-cong's research interests mainly include Information Retrieval, Data Mining and Distributed Systems. Prior to joining HP Labs China, he completed his PhD from Peking University in the area of search engine in Jun 2003, and worked for Lucent China from Jul 2003 to Jul 2006.

    Warren GREVING

    Warren Greving is the Director of International Research Development at HP Labs. His twenty year engineering and management career at HP has focused primarily on software R&D, including AI programming languages, CASE development environments, and embedded software platforms. Since 2001, he has been deeply involved in the management and operations of expanding HP Labs research capability in new locations, Bangalore and Beijing, and researching the impact of emerging country user and business requirements on HP's technical research agenda.

    Li-mei joined HP Labs China as a Research Scientist in Sep 2007. She is part of HP Labs Advanced Database Program, working on large scale data management.

    Jian-ming JIN

    Jian-ming joined HP Labs China as a Research Scientist in Aug 2007. His research interests include pattern recognition, machine learning, natural language processing and document image processing. Before joining HP Labs China, he worked at NEC Labs China as an associate researcher. Jian-ming received his PhD from Nankai University and worked at Tsinghua University as a post-doctor from 2003 to 2005.

    Qing-hu LI

    Qing-hu is a Research Scientist at HP Labs China, with in-depth research experience with peer-to-peer structures and data management. He also has abundant experience with design and implementation of various database-related projects. He joined HP Labs in 2006 and has been working on several projects in the following areas: hydro informatics, web mapping and video database. Qing-hu received his Bachelor degree, Master's degree, and PhD degree in Computer Science all from Tsinghua University, and completed post-doctorial research program before joining HP.

    De-miao LIN

    De-miao joined HP Labs China as an Associate Research Scientist in Aug 2007. He is participating in the projects about Web Content Discovery and Organization. His research interests include content management, data mining and information extraction. He spent six years in Tsinghua University from 2001 to 2006 and got his Bachelor and Master degree in Computer Science. He is interested in anything that is novel for him, and loves to try if possible.

    Rui LIU

    Rui Liu joined HP Labs China as a Research Scientist in Jun 2006. He is part of HP Labs Advanced Database Program, working on large scale data management and consolidation. He got his PhD degree from Software Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University. His research interests include Grid computing, enterprise management systems and very large scale information systems.

    Ke-yan LIU

    Ke-yan joined HP Labs China as a Research Scientist in Jan 2008. His research interests include computational intelligence, data-intensive computation, machine learning, natural language processing and video processing. He completed his PhD degree in the Beihang University in Nov 2007. He has published several important papers in international computation journals and conference.

    Ping LUO

    Ping Luo joined HP Labs China as a Research Scientist in Jul 2007. Prior to that, he has just obtained his PhD degree in computer science from Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Ping's research interests include knowledge discovery & data mining, machine learning, distributed computing, and web mining. He has published several papers in some prestigious refereed journals and conference proceedings, such as IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing, ACM SIGKDD. In his spare time, Ping always sweats over at badminton and tennis courts.

    Liang TANG
    Liang Tang joined HP Labs China as a Research Scientist in Jan 2007. He is part of HP Labs Image Search & Organization Program, and he also acts as a program manager of the Tsinghua-HP Multimedia Research Center. His research interests include image processing, pattern recognition, computer vision, and music analysis. Liang received his PhD degree in information and communication engineering from Xidian University in 2004, and worked as a post-doctor from 2004 to 2007 in Tsinghua University.

    Lei WANG

    Lei Wang joined HP Labs China as an Associate Research Scientist in Jan 2008. Prior to that, he received his Master degree from Beihang University. His research interests include data mining, data management, parallel computing and workflow technology. He is part of Video Intelligence Platform Project, where he focused on parallel database and parallel computing.

    Wei-hong WANG

    Wei-hong is a Research Scientist at HP Labs China. She is interested in studying resource allocation and performance optimization problems in large-scale and autonomic computer systems, and developing novel solutions to them, for example, by applying market models, game models, system theory, and machine learning algorithms. Wei-hong received her PhD degree in Computer Engineering from University of Toronto.

    Yu-hong XIONG
    Yu-hong is a project manager at HP Labs China. He joined HP Labs in 2002 and has worked on several projects in the following areas: embedded processor design, pervasive computing, P2P systems, content distribution, and content management. Currently, he is taking the lead in two projects: large scale data management and web content management. His research interests include content management, data mining, information extraction, component software, and multimedia. Yu-hong received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley.

    Sheng-wen YANG

    Sheng-wen joined HP Labs China as a Research Scientist in Jul 2007. Prior to that, he got his PhD degree at Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University. His research interests include computer-supported cooperative work, computer networks, machine learning, parallel and distributed computing, and information management etc. He received his BE degree and MS degree from School of Information Science and Engineering, Northeastern University.

    Cong-lei YAO

    Cong-lei joined HP Labs China as a Research Scientist in Jan 2009. Currently, he is taking part in the large scale data management research project. His research interests include machine learning, data mining, information extraction, and information retrieval. Prior to joining HP Labs China, he received his PhD from Peking University in the area of search engine and Web mining in Jan 2009.

    Tao YU
    Tao Yu joined HP Labs China as a Research Scientist in Jul 2006. She is part of HP Labs Advanced Database Program, working on large scale data management and consolidation. She got her PhD degree in Computer Science from University of California, Irvine in 2006. Her research interests include distributed systems data and information management, Service Oriented Computing (SOC), E-commerce, web services and QoS management.

    Yong Zhao joined HP Labs China as an Associate Research Scientist in Aug 2007. He is part of HP Labs Fusion Project, working on data mining and data analysis. He completed his bachelor degree from Hunan University in Jul 2004 and got Master degree from Tsinghua University in Jul 2007. His research interests include statistics, data mining, information retrieval and pattern recognition. His hobbies include swimming, history, movie, etc.

    Li-wei joined HP Labs China in Jul 2008. He is part of HP Labs Web Content Discovery and Organization Program, working on data mining, information retrieval and large scale computing. In Jun 2008, he received his Master degree in Computer Science from Nankai University. His hobbies include outdoors, reading, poem and life hacking.

    Bao-yao ZHOU

    Bao-yao joined HP Labs China as a Research Scientist in Jun 2006. Prior to that, he has just finished his PhD at Division of Information Systems, School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Bao-yao's research interests include knowledge discovery & data mining, web mining, personalized web services, semantic web, and digital library. He has published around 20 academic papers in top international conferences and journals. His current research focuses on digital content management and information extraction. Bao-yao received his B.Eng. degree and M.Sc. degree from Department of Automation, Tsinghua University. He also interned at Microsoft Research Asia and worked for Lenovo Corporate Research and Development, Beijing.
