Download - Build Your Own Itsy Related Projects

The Ideaitsy handheld device
The Itsy prototype (see specs) offers considerably more computing power and memory than other PDAs, enabling demanding applications such as speech recognition. It is designed as an open platform to facilitate innovative research projects. The base Itsy hardware provides a flexible interface for adding a custom daughtercard, and Itsy software is based on the Linux OS and standard GNU tools.

The goal of the Itsy project is to learn about issues relating to the development of small devices: power management, user interface issues, networking, and the development of applications for small devices. Several short movies demonstrate some of our accomplishments.

We are providing this download site as a historical reference to the Itsy project. For its time, Itsy was a breakthrough in handheld computing research that set the stage later for the introduction of another industry milestone -- Compaq's iPAQ handheld. As Itsy is now a legacy project, support is no longer provided for these downloads.
