[Gc] CHECKSUMS does not handle unmapping

Thanks.  I added documentation to that effect in Makefile.direct.  I don't think that's worth fixing unless someone really needs it to debug.  The more serious problem with CHECKSUMS is that it doesn't really work with threads.  It's really just a pretty basic debug tool.
