Have you tried this with the current BDWGC CVS snapshot (or at least v72alpha4)?

I myself successfully tested GC v72alpha4 on SunOS 10 Update 8 Release 5.10 on amd64 (32/64-bit) with Sun Studio 12 Update 1 SunC (with PARALLEL_MARK and THREAD_LOCAL_ALLOC enabled).
