I don't know if it'll help, but you should try a newer version.

The latest release is 7.2d, and I have a patch to update the
port to it. Here's how to do it:

    cd /usr/ports/devel/
    fetch http://tx97.net/~magv/diff/boehm-gc-7.2d.diff
    patch -Ep0 < boehm-gc-7.2d.diff
    rm `find boehm-gc* -name '*.orig'`
    rm boehm-gc-7.2d.diff

Install the port normally after that.

(You can also run `make regression-test` from the port's directory
to launch it's self-test and verify that it works).
