Sounds like you are overloading your client machine.
I'd start off by decreasing the num of connections, until you get
to a point where you don't get any more of these file descriptor errors.
Once you do that, try decreasing the httperf timeout value, then start to
increase your num of connections.
If you still can't reach your desired load rate. You will need to tune the
relevant file descriptor parameters for your OS. see section 3.1.1 of the
httperf white paper
