[httperf] gcc error in Cygwin

Hi Martin,
    As you told me I went and installed the gcc and the make package 
from the Cygwin package directory. Now a different error comes up it 
says

loading cache ./config.cache
checking for gcc... gcc
checking wether the C compiler <gcc> works..... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler 
cannot create executables.

I am lost again any reply would be appreciated.
