The global technology solutions provider,
HP, today announced the introduction of a pen based technology
which enables non-English speaking people to use computers
effectively.
The gesture based keyboard technology,
according to Mr Dick Lampman, senior vice-president, research
and director HP Labs, can open up the power of computing
to a large number of new users, all in their own language
and without prior knowledge of English or typing.
Overall, he said, the GKB could benefit
more than 1.5 billion non English speaking people including
Indian, Nepalese, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi and other phonetic
script users. Priced at Rs 2,000 per unit, the GKB, he said,
was a low cost and rugged solution. — SNS
