Coffei is a web services-based framework for supporting form filling by hand, using different pen-based devices such as TabletPCs, PocketPCs and “electronic paperclip” devices. Coffei uses open standards such as W3C InkML and W3C XForms. Coffei supports deployment and administration of forms automation solutions for diverse scenarios and for integrating ICR engines.

The core research areas in this field are:

  • Form based ink capture and recognition

  • Support for ink capture from heterogeneous pen based devices

  • Simplifying the form lifecycle (design, rendering, processing, validation, review, integration and archival).
