for Enterprise and IT Management Services |
Enterprises in countries such as India face unprecedented
growth in volumes of transactions while the value per unit transaction
reduces as they reach segments of users that were earlier not addressed.
As enterprises expand their geographic coverage, the need to deploy
and cost-effectively support IT in diverse and multi-tiered organizations
increases dramatically.
Governments, in particular, are keen to see that
IT can be effectively deployed for delivering better services like
education and health-care to citizens. IT enabled services (ITES)
ranging from IT outsourcing, business process outsourcing (BPO)
to knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) is another segment of rapid
growth, with its own set of unique technology needs. These customer
driven trends from India provide opportunities for research exploration
for HP Labs India.
Additionally, India has grown to become a major software
and services development hub. With Software As A Service (SaaS)
model of application deployment becoming more prevalent, the paradigm
of application development has itself changed. Simpler methods
of software development with service reuse and composition over
open platforms have become main stream. This emerging trend opens
up new research challenges in the space of service development and
deployment platforms.
Our major research focus is on platforms and systems
for enabling service development and deployment for Enterprise and
IT Management Solutions.
The core research areas include:
- Semantic Web
- Web Services
- Service Oriented Architectures
- Data and Application Integration
- Distributed Systems
- Large Scale Databases
- Modeling Techniques
- System Management
- Web 2.0
