Extraction and Recognition of Ink from Paper

The use of paper in enterprises is ubiquitous. While moving from electronic world to paper is relatively easy, the reverse path is difficult. For instance, how well can handwritten ink on paper be automatically extracted? How well can it be recognized in order for it to be effectively used later in a process?

Our research in this area focuses on:

  • Segregation of handwritten ink from paper
  • High-quality recognition of the extracted ink
