Handwritten Gesture Interfaces

Touch-based interfaces are becoming mainstream with the launch of devices such as HP’s TouchSmart PC. Common tasks that were once performed using mouse or keyboard input now need to be performed using fingers on the touch surface.

Our work in this area focuses on creating new user experiences with gesture interfaces. This allows the creation of personalizable and adaptable user experiences driven by some of our recognition technology. It has applicability in terms of providing shortcuts to applications, simplifying the input required for applications, etc.

The core research areas in this field are:

  • Intelligent user interfaces
  • Gesture recognition using small samples
  • Personalization and Adaptation of recognition
