Research Internships

Research Internships are intended for students enrolled full time at an accredited college/university (minimum 12 hours per semester) who generally work 40 hours per week during the summer months between semesters. This is typically a 10-12 week assignment.

In the Exascale Computing Lab, we conduct research into future systems, networks, and datacenters having capabilities far beyond today's, with interesting challenges concerning performance, power, reliability, manageability, and efficiency. Our research spans architecture, systems, software, networking, and management.

We welcome applications from PhD students with the background and desire to contribute in the following research directions:

  • Advanced multicore processor architectures
  • Transactional memory
  • Program development tools for multicore
  • Analysis and modeling of emerging workloads, architectures and systems
  • Systems architectures including blade servers and datacenters
  • Emerging memory and storage architectures (e.g., non-volatile memory)
  • Manageability platforms and solutions
  • Virtualization (including VM management and scheduling) and virtual appliances
  • Networking for blade servers and enterprise datacenters
We are looking for internship candidates who have strong qualifications and who bring diverse perspectives. Excellent research, communication, and implementation skills are required.
