Description

The Storage and Information Management Lab within HP Labs, Palo Alto, is currently seeking to hire interns to work on exciting problems in enterprise storage and information systems. Some of the areas of interest to our lab include, but are not limited to:

  • Cloud storage and compute systems
  • data intensive storage and computer systems
  • distributed systems
  • file systems design
  • text mining
  • information retrieval

The Exascale Computing Lab within HP Labs, Palo Alto is currently seeking to hire interns to work on exciting problems in enterprise computing and networking. Some of the areas of interest to our lab include:

  • Next-generation server architectures
  • Virtualization technologies and management of virtual environments
  • Data-Intensive and Cloud Computing
  • Impact of photonics on computer systems
  • System applications of non-volatile memories
  • Parallel Programming for Scalable Services
  • Automatic diagnosis, prediction, decision making, management and control of complex IT systems
  • Power: managing and reducing power consumption in servers, blades, and data centers
  • Networking and management of the networking layer

Our labs have ambitious, cross-disciplinary research projects, which aim to demonstrate our research and technology advancements quantitatively on prototype systems and through pilots with customers and HP's own global organizations. Researchers at HP Labs publish in major conferences and journals, work closely with customers and HP business units, collaborate with universities and researchers at other companies, and participate on program committees for many conferences

Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Current registration in a PhD program in a relevant field (computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to generate, frame, and carry out research (for example, via papers published in top-tier conferences or journals).

Ability to work independently and in teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong mathematical grounding and a desire to learn new techniques and apply them to problem solving.

Excellent software systems building skills a plus.
