Biography
Doron Shaked is director of the Printing Automation Lab (HP Labs Israel), the Haifa-based facility of HP Laboratories. HP Labs Israel is an excellence center in imaging science, learning, and automation technologies. Along with innovative research in these areas, HP Labs Israel is focused on bridging disruptive technology gaps on the roadmaps of HP's businesses. The two primary focus areas of HP Labs Israel are workflow automation for commercial printing and learning algorithms transforming IT data to knowledge for IT service management.
Shaked has been with HP Labs since 1995. He served in a series of roles from individual contributor through project lead and research manager. Shaked and his team have developed state-of-the-art technologies in such areas as color half-toning, print quality assurance and fully-automated image enhancement that are included in Indigo presses and other HP printing products. He also took part in an initiative to extend image analysis to automate HP's IT service business.
He graduated with a BSc. cum laude in electrical and computer engineering from the Ben Gurion University in 1988. He received his M.Sc. and D.Sc. from the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology) in 1991 and 1995 respectively.
Research interests
Shaked’s research interests include printing algorithms, color halftoning, image processing, image analysis, computer vision, and shape analysis.
Patents
Doron Shaked holds more than 30 patents, and wrote more than 20 journal and conference papers.
