Principal Research Scientist


Siani is a principal research scientist in the Security and Cloud Research Lab. The focus of her research is on privacy enhancing technologies, accountability and the cloud.

Siani received an MA from Oxford University in logic, a PhD in artificial intelligence from the University of Edinburgh and was a Research Fellow at Cambridge University before joining HP in 1994. She has been editor and co-author of books on Trusted Computing and on Privacy and Security for Cloud Computing, and is associate editor for journals on trust management as well as IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing. She is Vice President of the UK Chapter of the Cloud Security Alliance and member of: the steering committees of CSA GRC Stack and IFIP TM; HP Privacy and Data Protection Board; HP security forum; HP cloud security working group; numerous programme committees, including being General Chair of IFIP Trust Management 2013 and Program Chair of IEEE CloudCom 2013 and 2014; the advisory boards of several universities and EU projects.

She is currently leading the following projects/activities:

    • Regulatory compliance advisors: joint projects between HP Labs, HP Enterprise Services and Privacy Office
    • EU FP7 Cloud Accountability integrated project (A4Cloud)
