Biography

Vanish Talwar is a principal research scientist at Hewlett-Packard Labs where he is currently researching systems software and manageability stacks for next generation data centers. His research interests are in distributed systems, operating systems, and computer networks. He has made several key contributions around data center management including scalable and coordinated management architectures, model-driven resource management, automated service deployment, and adaptive monitoring systems. He has also had a stint in Embedded Linux and Embedded Java Virtual Machines and developed secure architectures for distributed multimedia systems.

Vanish received his B.Tech degree in Computer Science & Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, BHU, Varanasi and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC). Dr. Talwar is a recipient of the David J Kuck Best Masters Thesis award from the Dept. of Computer Science, UIUC, and has numerous patents and papers including a book on utility computing.
