Claudio Bartolini
Brief curriculum vitae
Claudio obtained a PhD degree in Information Engineering from the University of Ferrara (Italy) in March
2009 with a thesis on Business-driven IT management. He holds a Master's degree in Electronic
Engineering / Computer Science magna cum laude from the University of Bologna, Italy (1992). Claudio joined HP Labs Bristol in
January 1996. He transferred to HP Labs Palo Alto in April 2002.
Most recently, Claudio manages a team of
researchers in HP Labs Palo Alto and Bristol researching on collaborative Cloud
services supporting decisions in IT strategy (in particular IT project and
portfolio management). Earlier at HP labs Claudio provided technical
leadership for the Management by Business Objectives (MBO) project – then
Business-driven IT management (BDIM) project, and got involved in a number of
projects to do with IT Service Management, e-Commerce and model-based
diagnosis.
Along with Jacques Sauvé, Akhil
Sahai and Kamal Bhattacharya, Claudio created and
shaped the academic community of business-driven IT management, through
creating and organizing the series of IEEE workshops on Business-driven IT
management (BDIM 2006 to 2009), which were co-located with the main conferences
in the field: NOMS 2006 and 2008 and IM 2007 and 2009. Besides BDIM, Claudio has been general
co-chair for the IEEE Policy workshop in 2007, and a few other minor workshops
and served on the program committee of all the major conferences in IT
management.
