Welcome!
Welcome to the home page of my web site. (I also have a blog).
I'm a research engineer in HP Labs, one of the five sites at
which HP conducts its strategic product and technology research. HP
Labs Bristol is the largest HP Labs site in Europe, and hosts
approximately a third of the 750 or so research staff in the
organisation overall.
Outline
biography
I hold a degree in Physiology from the University of Bristol
(1991) and a PhD in computational neuroscience from the University of Cambridge
(1995). Before joining HP Labs in October 2000, I worked for the IT
consultants Logica.
Projects
My current interests include semantic blogging, semantic photos and other application domains
relevant to the semantic web. I also have a
longstanding interest in biologically inspired computing, notably
artificial immune systems.
Affiliations
I am affiliated with the semantic web group at HP
Labs Bristol. My role here is primarily to drive the development of
various semantic web applications.
I am also interested in biologically inspired computing and have
carried out a number of investigations into the Artificial Immune System (AIS) metaphor. I am a
member of the ICARIS steering committee.
I am employed as a visiting lecturer by UWE and have also given
guest lectures at Bristol, Birmingham and
Nottingham
