Some general usage questions

1) When copying files from remote nodes with ftp, I usually turn on hash
marking so that I can watch the prgress.  ange-ftp seems to do very little by
way of progress indication, or at least its granularity is too high.  Is
there any way to adjust this? 

2) How does one end an ange-ftp session?  Are you supposed to go the *ftp 
buffer and C-d the session?  Are you supposed to run 
ange-ftp-kill-ftp-process on each directory buffer?
