EFS 1.6 probem with grind.isca.uiowa.edu

Dear bug team:

I'm mailing this both to the EFS bug team, and to the site admin at
UIowa.  It looks to me like there's a quoting problem here: efs wants
an "ls -al" of the directory, yet uiowa is attemption an ls of "-al
the directory".
