EFS 1.9 bug: Copying directories problem

Fellow efs'ers:

When copying files with dired, the copy runs in the background. If you
try to copy a directory the copy doesn't work - dired is trying to
prompt for recursive copying I presume but it reports non-character
event in the dired-log. Is there a flag to stop remote copying or is
there another solution to this problem ?
