Folks,
I saw this message on alt.lucid.something. I thought that it was relevant
here too.

Subject: xemacs on hppa, 60%cpu mousing around! (fsf 1%)
i am on a hp735, for a while the fastest desktop...
if i drag the mouse around in a dired buffer, "top" tells me that i
(xemacs) am using from 55% to 60% of the cpu cycles.
just out of curiosity, i tried the same trick in a fsf dired buffer,
the cpu was consistently under 1% (stabilized around 0.96-0.98%)
because i'm testing a new version of dired (7.5) (playing the clueless
user, with acclaim from both the critics and the public), i'd like to
know if this kind of results is replicable using the distribution
dired, with the hppa 19.11 prebuilt binary.
why i ask?
1 is there something unusual in dired 7.5 xemacs support?
2 curiosity
3 fsf envy (2nd time in a year, completion works for ftp hosts
in fsf)
thank you for reading, t.i.a. for any answer you'll post.
ciao
giacomo
