I'd do the same. Is mode-motion distributed with XEmacs? Some of
these packages have special hacks to test for ange-ftp, and inhibit
file system activity if it looks like it would start an FTP session.
Maybe not all have been ported to efs. But the port should be nothing
more complicated than a global replace of ange-ftp with efs. I have
neither mode-motion, nor XEmacs installed here, so I'll let the XEmacs
gurus investigate.
