This is wierd. It could be that pty support is somehow broken or
badly configured in either Linux or GNU Emacs. efs hangs since its
regular expressions don't match lines with those nulls. It could even
be that gcc (if you use it) has been badly configured.
Do you get nulls when you start up other pty-using processes under GNU
Emacs such as comint?
