I have strived to include all packages unmodified.  When changes have
been necessary I work to get them integrated into the standard package
distribution.  Changes have, in almost all cases, only been made to
correct portability problems.

This is the way things should continue to be done.  I can update every
major package included in XEmacs which has been integrated in this
manner in less than 10 minutes.  The ones we include which are still
heavily modified from the "standard" are updated infrequently at best
because it is a major effort to do so.

We need to come up with a light-weight XEmacs distribution.  But the
way to do it is not by selectively neutering the various included
packages.
