I vote for "efs-lite", so long as it contains exactly the
unaltered stuff implied by efs' "make core".

Efs proper's Makefile should also be changed to name this target
"efs-lite", for consistency. Version numbers for "efs-lite"
should be kept in synch with efs proper - that is, "efs-lite
version 32.97" should be exactly the same as "efs proper version
32.97; make efs-lite". And efs.el (which is a part of efs-lite)
should include directions on (a) recognizing when you've run
into a problem solved in the complete package, and (b) where to
get it. If the XEmacs distributers feel they need some slightly
different partition, but Sandy is willing to work with them to
define it, and make it into the new "make efs-lite", I could
live with that, but I want to be clear that I am *not*
encouraging anyone to take up Sandy's time on such a pursuit
(Sandy has been phenomenally productive on efs, I'd hate to see
him either distracted or disenheartened).

If the XEmacs distributers feel they need more changes or
partitioning that Sandy doesn't like, or hasn't time for, then I
vote, with the Rat, against including efs in the XEmacs
distribution at all.

It appears to me that "make core" involves around half the disk
space of full efs. Is stripping it down really worth this much
trouble?
