Symlinks to EFS directories

Should it work if I make a symbolic link like this:

unix% ls -l ~/LINK

lrwxrwxrwx   1 me  38 Aug  7 23:23 /home/cgw/LINK ->
 /user@host:/home/username/

(User and host names changed to protect the innocent)

I thought this would be a cool way to make shortcuts to frequently
accessed EFS directories. However when I open LINK, EFS loads, logs
into the server successfully, then I get the message
"File exists, but cannot be read"
and a blank buffer...

Is this something that should work? I've never tried it before.

I'm using EFS version "1.16/1.56" running on XEmacs21.0 beta.
