EFS 1.15 bug: Does not cooperate with comint.

To whom it may concern:

File name completion on remote hosts opened with ssh (or rlogin for
that matter) does not work.

Scenario:
M-x ssh victorio.uit.no
M-x ssh-directory-tracking-mode

Gives the following error:
/royd@victorio.uit.no:/royd@victorio.uit.no:~/ is not a directory

This I can work around by hacking shell-cd-1 to ignore
comint-file-name prefix. But still after this hack I get errors that
files/directories don't exist when I use TAB on the shell prompt.
Again, I can hack around this by making efs-barf-if-not-directory use
efs-file-directory-p instead of file-directory-p, but this seems
somewhat inelegant.  I thought efs would wrap its own functions around
the file handler functions, but that seems not to be the case.

The whole thing works if I invoke the following lisp statements

(efs-overwrite-fn "efs" 'file-name-completion)
(efs-overwrite-fn "efs" 'file-directory-p)

but after doing this I cannot open files locally, get the error:

Attempt to get a remote listing for the local file
/opt/xemacs/lib/xemacs-20.4/etc/gnus/ 

I reported this problem to the comint people first, but they don't
seem to be very interested in xemacs problems.

Any hints is appreciated.
