Chris Preist

I am a principal scientist at HP Labs, based at HPL's European research centre in Bristol, UK.

I lead the UK team of the Sustainable IT Ecosystem Lab. Our research focuses on the use of IT to support sustainabiliy goals, including;

- The use of IT systems to re-engineer business processes to reduce their environmental impact, with particular emphasis on the commercial printing and publishing sector.

- Tools for estimating and assessing the sustainability impacts of specific IT deployments.

- Information management techniques for sustainability assessment problems.

- Climate Futures: Scenarios looking at the possible social consequences of climate change to 2030 to support strategic planning in organisations.
