Auxiliary files

In order to boot the Linux kernel with Ski, it is necessary to configure the kernel appropriately and to install a file that contains a (simulated) root file-system. The files below are available to help you get started:

After downloading the root filesystem, the file needs to be decompressed with gunzip and installed /var/ski-disks/sda. Ski will require write-access to this file in order to boot the Linux kernel. If you can't install sda in /var/ski-disks for some reason, you can place it anywhere you like, say in /my/path/sda and then boot the kernel with:

$ ski bootloader vmlinux simscsi=/my/path/sd
Note: The simscsi argument specifies the simulated disk-prefix (/my/path/sd), not the path of the disk file, so it is important not to specify the trailing "a" character.
