Overview
Enterprise-scale data integration. Knowledge discovery.
Knowledge management. Service-oriented architectures. These are
among many examples of IT applications that could change
dramatically through the introduction of semantic web technology.
Today's rigid and poorly-integrated IT architectures can, we
believe, be transformed by the metadata standards and flexible,
open information systems of the semantic web. Our research group
aims to enable these benefits for HP customers and partners
through:
- standards work via the W3C to support the growth of the
Semantic Web;
- tools development to encourage the exploration and exploitation
of the Semantic Web by developers;
- core research to help develop the field;
- applications research to demonstrate the value of Semantic
Web;
- consultancy within HP to
promote its use within the company.
