Abstract: Advances in graphics workstations now allow for the development of new visualization tools for algorithm and program development. Algorithm visualization assists in better analysis, development, and presentation of the algorithm characteristics. In this report we present a short overview of research in the area of algorithm animation/visualization and some preliminary thoughts and results from our own recent work in that field. As an example, we present techniques for the visualization of the bubble sort and quicksort sorting algorithms.
