Keyword(s):
Abstract: A post-column reactor for fluorescence detection in capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) is described. The reactor consists of a resevoir of o_-phthaldialdehyde (OPA) reagent which acts as the cathodic resevoir in which the electrophoresis capillary terminates. Zones from the capillary mix and react with the OPA reagent to produce a fluorophore which is detected just beyond the capillary tip. Qualitative and quantitative studies show convective forces as a major source of mixing within the reactor.
