Abstract: The central objective of the Intelligent Alarm Technology Project is to demonstrate and analyze the implications of knowledge-based programming to the functionality and design of future generation patient monitoring systems. The aim of phase 1 of this project is to develop a practical realisation of our ideas on alarm management which could be the basis for a future addition to the Merlin product line. This document contains the results of six knowledge elicitation sessions aimed at analyzing the user requirements for the management of false or inappropriate alarms.
