X/PM: An XServer for Presentation Manager

Abstract: X/PM is an X11 server implemented on OS/2 and supported by the Presentation Manager (PM) application programming interface. It provides PC users with network access to X clients via individual windows on the PM desktop. X and PM windows may be freely mixed on the PM desktop, and text can be cut and pasted between X and PM applications. This document discusses the architecture of X/PM focusing on several enhancements to PM that would improve its ability to support X. It also discusses the viability of using X/PM as a vehicle to explore possibilities for improving the interactive performance and flexibility of X servers.
