Abstract: The reflection sensitivity of low-coherence reflectometry measurements can be limited by the inherent intensity noise associated with low-coherence optical sources. By selectively attenuating the reference power, the effects of intensity noise can be decreased allowing improved reflection sensitivity. A reflection sensitivity of -146 dB is demonstrated using this technique.
