HP appoints Doron Shaked as Director of HP Labs Israel

Palo Alto, June, 2009 – HP announced that Doron Shaked has been appointed director of HP Labs Israel. The lab, based in Haifa on the campus of Technion - Israel Institute of Technology was founded in 1994 by Abraham Lempel.

Shaked’s appointment is effective immediately. He will report directly to Prith Banerjee, senior vice president of research and director of HP Labs.

Doron will lead the research activities for HP’s Printing and Automation Technology Lab, focused on color printing algorithms, machine learning technologies, image and video processing algorithms, image analysis and understanding algorithms, compression and coding algorithms.

He has an exceptional record of leading world-class research with demonstrated business acumen and leadership experience in high-tech commercial environments, demonstrated by his significant personal contributions to HP Labs, personal publication record, and granted patents. Doron joined HP Labs Israel (then the Israel Science Center) as the first full-time employee, and has worked in the labs ever since in various technical contributor and project manager roles, and as of late, interim director of HP Labs Israel.

He holds a D.SC and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Technion and a B.Sc. Cum Laude, Electrical and Computer Engineering, from Ben-Gurion University.
